My friend of 50 years. Top musician and singer. Full of fun and also such a caring person. We had such laughs in the 70's. Our first paid gig, £5 between 3 of us. However, the Bar owner also gave us free beer and that was his downfall. But Cyril was the star in the band and went on to become Irelands greatest Bazouki player, with a beautiful, unique voice to match. A loving father and a super Gaga. His 7 grandchilren adored him as was evident at his cremation yesterday. The stories of sadness, love and laughter, as well as the music played, made it a very special day. Condolences to his family and his musical brother, Blackie. God bless you Cyril, you were one of a kind ❤ Your music will keep you alive forever. Blaise.

Cyril was a marvellous musician and a beautiful singer. One of the best bouzouki players in the country and one of the finest accompanists. He was at the heart of some of the best sessions I've been at especially in Ennis. His version of "Glencoe" on the Damp In The Attic album is a thing of beauty. He will be sadly missed but his music lives on in our memories of his contributions to so many great sessions, performances and albums. May He Rest In Peace.

I am obsoletely broken hearted to hear the devastating news about Cyril from Ireland this week. Cyril is by far my favourite balladeer, not only is he a legendary singer and musician but people tend to forget that he was also a great song writer in his own right and a truly lovely human being. He always used to sing "The Keg of Brandy" for me that never failed to make me unashamedly cry. There is something about Cyril’s voice that is undefinable but so very, very special, so beautiful and unique. My deepest sympathy to his lovely family and of course my thoughts are with Blackie who has just lost his buddy and wingman and to all the PH/PH lads and lasses, Geraldine, Eoghan and all those in Doolin and Co. Clare. There will be many a sad heart around the world this week for people who have been touched and inspired by his music over the years. I will never forget you Cyril and will carry your music with me forever. RIP my friend. I love you man. 🙏💔
